Molly ‘The Meatball’ McCann is set to return to the octagon at the recently announced UFC London card in March.
It was announced on Wednesday that the Merseyside fan favourite will face off with the Brazilian Strawweight, Istela Nunes.
This will be McCann’s first fight since UFC 304, where she suffered a unanimous decision loss to Bruna Brasil.
The 34-year-old’s last win came in February where she bounced back from defeat by submitting Diana Belbita with an armbar to earn her first win in the 115-pound weight division.
McCann debuted in the UFC in 2018 and has been a fan-favourite ever since for her relentless fighting style and infectious personality.
The highlight of ‘The Meatball’s’ UFC career so far took place in March 2022 where she added to her impressive highlight reel by knocking out Luana Carolina with a spinning elbow which went viral across the UFC’s social media platforms and propelled the Liverpudlian to stardom.
The Scouser will yet again be looking to add to her highlight reel in March when she steps into the octagon for what many view as a favourable matchup for ‘The Meatball’ as her opponent Nunes is yet to enter the win column in the UFC, losing all four of her fights since debuting in the promotion.
McCann’s next performance will be crucial for her career trajectory, going 2-3 in her last five fights means that it really is now or never to get back to winning ways.
With her loyal Merseyside fanbase, all eyes will be on the Liverpudlian striker at UFC London, a card that is already shaping up to be a huge event with fights such as Jan Blachowicz vs Carlos Ulberg and Marcin Tybura vs Mick Parkin being added to the card.
