Women’s football is one of the fastest growing sports in the world, and many jobs within the sport are becoming more welcoming of females. One of those jobs is coaching.
With only 12 of the 32 countries in the Women’s World Cup currently being coached by women, its clear there is still a long way to go to get the equality needed, but there has been a dramatic increase in females coaching in football with an increase of 88% between 2020 and 2024.
Merseysport Live caught up with Tranmere Rovers’ Coach Louise Edwards and her Liverpool Feds counterpart Leanne Duffy on breaking down the barriers in the women’s game.
