Everton manager David Moyes has said his players have done “remarkable” in the last few games.
Coming off a run of games against top of the league teams, Everton is now safe from relegation with five games left in the season.
Moyes said: “The players have done such a good job, they got the job done early, and we’ve got ourselves in a pretty strong position.
“The [past] games were tough but we expected them to be tough and the results have given us a feeling of comfort to not have that pressure of relegation.”
The Toffees drew 0-0 when they last faced Chelsea in the Premier League.
“We’ve got a really tough game tomorrow against Chelsea,” Moyes said.
“Their home record is good and we don’t have a good record of going to Stamford Bridge over the years either, but the way we have conducted ourselves against Man City, Liverpool, and Arsenal, I’m going there with real confidence and the belief that we can go and try to make something happen again.”
Moyes confirmed that James Tarkowski will be out for the rest of season due to a hamstring injury: “He plays such a huge part of what we’ve done and how we have done so well in this period.”
He also said that Dominic Calvert-Lewin is “very close” to coming back to training.
“They [the players] need to keep it up, they played so well against Man City last week and we’ve got to finish the season well,” Moyes said.
“Every game for a manager there’s a level of pressure and you want to win.
“I think we should be trying to finish the season with great wins.”
Kick-off for Everton vs Chelsea will be Saturday, 12:30 pm, at Stamford bridge.
