A last gasp goal for Leicester put more pressure on under fire boss Marco Silva as the blues suffered a 2-1 away defeat.
Everton started the game with a back five for the first time this year. Despite Leicester starting the match on the front foot nine minutes in Djibril Sibide fired a shot over the crossbar, an early warning that Everton were not just here to defend.
Fourteen minutes later Everton stunned the King Power stadium when Richarlison powered in a header, with a cross delivered from Sidibe leaving Kasper Schmeichel with no chance of saving it.
Leicester then had a penalty shout when Perez went down in the box but nothing was given by the official or VAR.
There was controversy when Graham Scott gave a penalty after it appeared Mason Holgate mistimed his challenge and brought down Ben Chilwell in the box. VAR intervened though and after a lengthy stoppage, it was decided there would be no penalty.
The second half picked up the same pattern as the first with Leicester attacking and Everton defending. Foxes right-back Ricardo forced a save from Pickford after his low driven shot was kept out impressively by the Dane.
Kelechi Iheanacho was introduced and had his first attempt on target of the game which again was saved by Pickford who was impressive all game.
However, Leicester would not be denied much longer and it was Jamie Vardy who got the goal. Ndidi picked up the ball in midfield and released Icheanacho who crosses across the box for Vardy who smashed it in past Pickford.
The chances kept coming for Leicester after this. Vardy had another chance, this time however he headed it over the crossbar.
James Maddison also had a big opportunity to put Leicester ahead after being teed up by Vardy but he fired it straight down the throat of the Everton keeper.
Everton threatened themselves though, substitute Moise Kean nearly caught Kasper Schmeichel of his line in what would have been a goal of the season contender.
The game however would end in heartbreak for Everton in the 94th minute when super sub Iheanacho capped off a brilliant performance by getting in between two of the Everton centre backs and smashing the ball past Pickford.
VAR did check the goal but in the end it was awarded to give Leicester a deserved win.
As for Everton, the result heaps more pressure on Silva ahead of Wednesday night’s Merseyside derby.
