Merseyside’s Premier League clubs are no strangers to the influx of American money in the division.

With the Friedkin Group becoming the 11th American investment fund to take control of a Premier League club when they took over at Everton, it seems the traditional English businessman has died within the ownership world.

Liverpool’s overall revenue reached a record £614m in the 2023/2024 season and this money only seems to be increasing with the 2025-2029 TV cycle bringing in an extra £6.7 billion to the league.

Despite the glitz and glamour in the top flight, clubs further down the pyramid are still routinely struggling to find the cash to run day to day. The gap between the top two divisions and the rest of British football is still large.
