With Xabi Alonso’s departure from Real Madrid making headlines on Monday, the spotlight has shifted back onto Liverpool manager Arne Slot and his role at the club.
Real Madrid confirmed that Alonso left by mutual agreement following a 3-2 loss to Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup final, and former defender Alvaro Arbeloa has been appointed as his successor.

Within hours, some supporters began asking whether Liverpool might revisit the idea of bringing him in to replace Slot, even though there has been no official contact between the club and Alonso.
At the moment, Liverpool’s hierarchy appear to be giving Slot time to deliver. But the timing of Alonso’s availability ensures that the conversation around the manager’s role at Anfield will not disappear any time soon.
