Bobby Grant won’t criticise his “outstanding” players despite a 4-0 defeat away to Kidderminster Harriers at Aggborough Stadium.
The defeat on Tuesday night leaves Marine in 10th position in National League North and four points off the play-off positions.
Kidderminster took the lead in the 19th minute through Reece Devine, who scored his second of the game 20 minutes later to make 2-0.
Emeka Obi and Amari Morgan-Samith scored the third and fourth in the second half.
Grant was in a positive mood despite the result and was full of praise for his players for dealing with the number of injuries.
He told the club’s YouTube channel: “A game too far with the bodies… I can’t stand here and criticise that group. What they’re doing for this football club and for me is outstanding.
“We got beat fair and square tonight. We had a few half chances, don’t get me wrong.
“But we didn’t deserve anything out of that game, and it weren’t through any fault, we just didn’t have it in our legs.”
Grant was keen to turn his attention to the FA Trophy quarter-final match against National League side Woking on Saturday.
He said: “We’ve got an unbelievable game to look forward to on Saturday.
“We’ll get home, we’ll recover, we’ll get in on Thursday and make sure our intensity levels are up come Saturday.”
Grant is hopeful to have some players back for the game against Woking.
He added: “We will have bodies back for the weekend and it’s bodies that will give us a huge boost.”
