Liverpool fell to a disappointing 5-2 defeat at home last night at the hands of the ruthless Champions League holders Real Madrid. Real Madrid came back from being 2-0 down, thanks to quick brace's from Karim Benzema and Vinicius Junior.

Presenter Jake Humphrey issued a public apology to Liverpool fans on behalf of BT Sport last night for spreading misinformation during their coverage of the Champions League final last May. Liverpool FC's oldest season ticket holder Ken Hirst has died aged 99. Liverpool announced the passing of Mr Hirst on their website.
