Wirral 2nd XV continued their unbeaten start to the season with a narrow 8-3 victory away at Birkenhead Park Wanderers. The visitors are the only side in the division to still boast a 100% win record.

Sefton Ladies fell to their fourth defeat in as many games on Sunday. They now sit rock-bottom of the Women's Championship North and are the only side without a point.

A much-improved performance for Sefton Ladies was overshadowed by an injury to hooker Emma Fitzsimmons. Fitzsimmons was taking part in a scrum when it collapsed, and it was suspected she had suffered a head or neck injury.

Firwood Waterloo rugby club has commemorated 100 years at the Memorial ground - but Covid restrictions have stopped any major celebrations for their loyal supporters. The Merseyside club moved to the Memorial ground in March 1921 after Rex Schofield the 1890’s captain suggested a new home for the team.
