Liverpool boxer Rocky Fielding led the way at a packed fight card at the Olympia with Martin Murray, Blane Hyland among others to finish victorious.

Rocky Fielding vs Adallah Paziwapazi

Rocky supplied the home crown with the only knockout of the night after he floored Abdallah Paziwapazi.

Fielding immediately got the crowd going with his ring walk song that is arguably the UK’s favourite, Sweet Caroline.

Chants for Fielding immediately began as soon as he stepped outside the ring. “Rocky, Rocky, Rocky” echoed around the Olympia.

Paziwapazi certainly come for a fight and took centre of the ring straight away as Rocky boxed off the ropes.

First round were close as both fighters were working each other out and same into the 2nd round.

Paziwapazi put the pressure on Rocky again as soon as the bell went for 2nd round and kept the Liverpudlian on the back foot.

A lovely combination from Rocky half way through the round got Paziwapazi’s respect as a body, head, body, landed on the away fighter.

Final minute of the round, Rocky was back on the ropes but landed a shot on the chin of the Tanzanian fighter which sent him to the canvas and ended the fight.

In an interview after, Rocky admitted it was brilliant to be back out and said: “Having that nerves and taking a few shots and then giving a few, yes it felt good”

Rocky said it might not be the last time we see of him this year as he is keen to get back into the gym and see what MTK has in store for him.

“If they (MTK Global) want to put out a show on in December, I’ll jump on it. Hopefully, a big fight in 2020 and that will be the aim.”

One thing for sure is Rocky did not show any signs of ring rust having 11 months out of the ring and his fans will certainly be looking forward to the 32 year old coming back.

Ged Carroll vs Jeff Ofori

Ged Carroll Kicked off the televised show with a thrilling eight rounder and fight of the night against Jeff Ofori .

It did not go the way Ged would have like as he fell short against Ofori on a points decision.

It is safe to say though that Carroll put on a brilliant show for his fight fans and showed tremendous heart through every single minute of the fight.

The 27 year old lost his unbeaten record on the night and said: “I’m obviously devastated with the outcome. I am much better boxer than that and I sort of played into Jeff’s hands.”

‘G-Man’ was very humble in defeat and admitted that his opponent was a tough customer.

Carroll said he is going back to the drawing board after Christmas then see where to go from there with his team.

Blane Hyland vs Steven Maguire

The two time senior ABA finalist certainly did not give Maguire his first glimpse of victory in front of his (Hyland’s) home crowd.

Blane controlled the fight all the way through and eased his way to victory showing no nerves through the four rounds.

Blane said in an interview post fight: “I haven’t boxed in over a year and a half so it is good to get back in there and get the rust off”

The well experienced amateur is looking to stay active now after a decent performance and expressed: “I thought my performance was decent despite a long time from not being in the ring”

The next time Blane Hyland is looking to get back into the ring five days before Christmas in Bolton and is certainly looking forward to it.

Overall, a brilliant night at the Olympia and brilliant show from Lee Eaton (Promoter) on the MTK card.
