Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has been ruled out until April with a groin injury.

The injury occurred during last week’s 2-0 loss against rivals Everton at Anfield.

It will see Henderson out for three World Cup Qualifiers for England but he is expected to return this season.

Henderson is now added to Liverpool’s growing defensive injury list with Virgil Van Djik, Joel Matip, Joe Gomez, and Fabinho all currently unavailable.

Manager Jurgen Klopp has recently used the midfielder in defense with Liverpool having limited central defenders available for matches but came off just half an hour into the Merseyside derby.

Henderson will now likely miss five Liverpool matches which includes a home match against Chelsea and the second-leg of the Champions League last 16 tie against RB Leipzig.

He’ll also miss the England qualifiers against San Marino, Albania and Poland in March.
