With the Merseyside derby on the horizon, Reds fans will hope Liverpool can carry on their recent form.

Their Everton rivals across Stanley Park will have a different plan.

Over the years, there have been many memorable wins for both sides.

So we delved in to the archives and here are, in our view, some of the best ones.

Liverpool 4-0 Everton, 20th April 2016

The most recent big-scoring match in Liverpool fans’ memories will be the 4-0 win at Anfield in 2016.

In Jurgen Klopp’s first Merseyside derby, his team were ruthless as they chased a Champions League spot.

The Reds blew the Toffees away as they recorded 37 shots to Everton’s three, with Divock Origi, Mamadou Sakho, Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho all on the scoresheet.

Ramiro Funes Mori sending off didn’t help the blue side of Merseyside.

Liverpool 4-0 Everton, 28th January 2014

Only two years previous, Liverpool won by the same scoreline.

They were chasing for their first league title in 24 years, they ran out comfortable winners at Anfield.

35 minutes into the game the contest was over, as the Reds ran into a 3-0 lead, with Sturridge starring with two goals.

A Luis Suarez in electric form all season added a fourth in the second half to complete their biggest Merseyside victory since 1982.

Liverpool 3-2 Everton, 3rd April 1999

Olivier Dacourt scored Everton’s fastest Premier League goal in a Merseyside derby.

Even so, they still fell to an entertaining 3-2 loss in April 1999.

Robbie Fowler’s double and a Steve McManaman goal cancelled out Dacourt’s goal to put Liverpool in the lead.

Francis Jeffers would give his Everton side a lifeline in the remaining six minutes, but it wouldn’t be enough to prevent the Reds getting all three points.

Everton 0-5 Liverpool, 6th November 1982

The most entertaining game at Goodison Park was contested in 1982.

A masterclass from Welsh legend Ian Rush gave the Reds their second biggest win against their rivals ever.

After a frustration opening ten minutes for the reigning English Champions, Rush then would put his team in front.

No one would expect how the second half would eventually go.

The Welshman adding another three goals to his tally, securing the rights of the best striker in the league.

Mark Lawrence also scored, helping Liverpool to a massive 5-0 victory.

Liverpool 0-4 Everton, 19th September 1964

Derby games haven’t always disappointed Everton fans.

Their 4-0 win at Anfield in 1964 will live in memories of those who remember that far back.

Derek Temple would score Everton’s fastest ever Merseyside derby goal in the opening minute as they ran rampant.

Goals from Frederick Pickering, Colin Harvey and Johnny Morrissey secured a great victory.

Everton would ultimately go on and win the title that season.

All eyes now will be on Wednesday’s clash to see if another Merseyside classic will occur.
