Everton announced ‘Big Dunc’ Duncan Ferguson will take charge of the first team for their ‘upcoming games’.

The news comes after the club sacked Rafael Benitez on Sunday.

The Toffees are in pursuit of a new manager with names such as Frank Lampard, Wayne Rooney and Roberto Martinez being rumoured.

The Scotsman took the first team training session this morning in preparation for Saturday’s 12.30pm kick-off versus Aston Villa.

Ferguson will be joined by fellow club legend, Leighton Baines, as well as John Ebbrell and Alan Kelly.

Ferguson is no stranger to the Toffees dugout after he took charge after Marco Silva was sacked in December 2019.

The 50-year-old’s first game in charge was another 12:30 Saturday Kick-Off.

It was a game he saw his side win 3-1 against Chelsea and he’ll be hoping for the same this weekend.
