Jurgen Klopp has made it clear the ball is firmly in Mohamed Salah’s court in the Egyptian’s ongoing contract dispute.

Klopp said “It’s Mo’s decision pretty much. The club did what the club can do. That’s how it is.”

The German was commenting on the contract offered to Salah, speaking in his Brighton pre-match press conference.

Discussions over improved terms have been ongoing for over a year now, yet still Salah and his agent Ramy Abbas Issa appear no closer to agreeing on a new deal.

Abbas Issa wasted no time in responding to Klopp’s comments on Twitter as he posted a cryptic message implying he found the Liverpool boss’ comments ironic.

Liverpool’s ‘Egyptian King’ has been touted as the best player in the world at times this season and his departure would be unthinkable for Liverpool.

The question that remains is whether Liverpool should stick or twist; do they let Salah leave and replace him with someone on a less money, or break the wage structure to keep an established superstar on Merseyside?

Klopp has suggested Liverpool’s offer is non-negotiable. It remains to be seen whether the title chasing club stand firm over the future of one of the club’s greatest ever players.
