Neco Williams could start tonight for Wales as they face Austria in their bid to qualify for the 2022 World Cup.

Wales finished second in their qualifying group, securing a place in tonight’s play-off.

After impressive form for Fulham, the Liverpool loanee could start for the Red Dragons in Cardiff tonight.

The Welsh right-back played second fiddle to Trent Alexander Arnold at Liverpool so opportunities at Anfield have been limited.

He secured a loan to Fulham to gain experience.

Jurgen Klopp insists Williams still has a future at Liverpool.

“His Liverpool story is not over, it is merely on pause”, said Klopp.

Williams has two goals and two assists after just 10 appearances for the Championship table-toppers.

He insists that qualifying for the world cup is his dream.

“We all want to qualify and it would mean everything to us,” he said.

“I’m sure the whole of Wales is looking forward to it. If we win that, then we’re one step closer to the World Cup.”

Wales haven’t qualified for the World Cup since 1958, but after holding their own in two European Championships, spirits will be high.

A win tonight would be a huge step forward for Cymru, and Neco Williams will be hoping to play his part in history.
