Everton will be looking to bounce back from a narrow Man Utd defeat last weekend, as they make the trip south to face Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday tea-time.

The 2-1 defeat to Manchester United at Goodison Park ended the Toffees six match unbeaten run.  Frank Lampard’s side put in a good display against United and will feel hard done by that they couldn’t take anything from the game.

Tottenham go into this match just three days after a 3-2 victory against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League. A Heung-Min Son double and a Harry Kane penalty was enough to see off last season’s Europa League winners. Antonio Conte’s side are currently sitting third in the Premier League, behind Manchester City and Arsenal.

The Toffees will be without Anthony Gordon for the trip to Spurs due to a suspension, as he picked up his fifth yellow card of the season against Man Utd. Gordon’s absence could prove to be a big miss for Lampard as he has been one of their standout performers this season. Everton will also be without Ben Godfrey and Mason Holgate, despite the pair being back in training. Also unavailable due to injuries are Nathan Patterson and Yerry Mina. However, the Toffees will be boosted by the return of midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure after a family issue kept him out of the squad last weekend.

Head-to-Head

In their last five meetings, Everton have won twice, drawn twice and lost once. The Blues’ win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium thanks to Dominic Calvert-Lewin in September 2020 is the only win they have over Spurs in the last 19 Premier League meetings. However, the last time the two sides met in London ended in an embarrassing defeat for Lampard, losing 5-0 to Spurs, which included a Kane double. The England striker has scored 13 goals in 14 appearances against The Blues, including six braces in the fixture.

Everton face a tough challenge against Tottenham, and the absence of Gordon will only make this challenge more difficult. Kick off from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is at 5:30 on Sky Sports.
