Matt Beard was delighted with his team after beating Blackburn to secure three out of three wins in the Conti Cup.
A goal from Jasmine Matthews just before halftime at Prenton Park secured Liverpool’s place in the next round of the competition.
The Liverpool manager told Mersey Sport Live: “I was pleased. We got a lot out of today. We got minutes into legs and also managed to rotate and look after people as well.”
“We had good chances but we could’ve created more. When I look at the goal, we didn’t get enough bodies in the box but when we did we got the rewards for it. These are tough games to play.”
Beard revealed that Rachael Laws is back in light training after suffering a ‘knock last week’. Faye Kirby replaced her in goal on Sunday and the Reds boss was full of praise for her.
He said: “Congratulations to Faye on her debut. She deserved that opportunity. She’s been working really hard and she was good today.”
The Reds will face Manchester City at home in the next round on December 7, a game that Beard knows won’t be easy.
He said: “It’ll be a tough game but we’ll obviously look forward to it. Obviously that’s in between two big league games for us, so I’m pleased that we’ve got lots of minutes into lots of players.”
