Southport’s Tommy Fleetwood enters the WM Phoenix Open tomorrow alongside defending champion Scottie Scheffler and world number one Rory McIlroy.

Nicknamed “the greatest show on grass”, the Open is the PGA Tour’s best attended event.

Almost 500,000 people attended it last year.

Fleetwood is currently ranked number 25 in the world and will look to improve on his 59th place finish at the Dubai Desert Classic at the end of January.

The 2017 European Tour Player of the Year has amassed six DP World Tour victories and a Race to Dubai title since his 2010 debut.

The 32-year-old is still however looking to land his first PGA Tour title in 12 years.

Fleetwood spoke to the DP World Tour before the Dubai Desert Classic.

The Southport man gave an overview of his start to the season.

“I finished last year well and you never know after a month off quite how you are going to play.

“There have been some positives and there have been some things to work on but overall great to be back into tournament golf.”

The WM Phoenix Open will be played over four days from Thursday 9th to Sunday 12th of February. The winner receives $3.6 million dollars.

Fleetwood is set to tee off 2.26pm UK time for his first round and 7.11pm UK time on Friday for round two.
