An initiative announced by the government to ensure equal access to all sports in schools will give girls more confidence, according to a Merseyside teacher and a Liverpool Feds star.

Millstead Primary School teacher Zia Amershi and Liverpool Feds striker Paige Cole shared their thoughts this month’s announcement, and what improvements still need to be made.

Figures suggest that only 67% of all schools and 41% of high schools currently provide sports equally to girls in Physical Education lessons.

But schools in England will have to offer at least two hours of sport each week and girls and boys should be able to take part in the same activities in class and in extra curricular opportunities.
