Vauxhall Motors have announced former Tranmere Rovers full-back Danny Holmes as their new Manager. 

When former Manager Mick Graa moved onto take over at Bootle, his assistant Joe Heath, was put in interim charge.  

McGraa oversaw a successful period, guiding “The Motormen” to the Cheshire Senior Cup Final before clinching promotion in the Summer.  

This is Holmes’ first managerial role after success with the Elite Development Academy, based on The Woodchurch in Wirral, which he helped set up to coach youngsters.

Holmes brings with him the former Chester and Stockport County midfielder Glenn Rule as his assistant, a controversial character who was once banned for 10 games for alegedly biting an opponent. 

Chairman Jon Waring said: “We’re delighted to bring in Danny Holmes as the club’s first team manager. From Danny’s first meeting with us I could sense his drive and ambition to succeed”.

Holmes added “I’m delighted to be appointed First Team Manager. I will be getting to work straight away to improve the team collectively and individually. We have amazing potential to reach our objectives for this season and beyond, I will leave no stone unturned. I can’t wait to get going.”

Holmes’ first game is against Clitheroe, at The vanEupen Arena, this Saturday, as The Motors look to bounce back from a 2-0 defeat away at Runcorn Linnets.
