The Republic of Ireland met with England during Tuesday night’s Euro 2025 qualifier where it was the visitors who emerged victorious.

Football fans have been left stunned by Republic of Ireland player Megan Campbell and her catapult throw ins.

The former Liverpool and Everton player caused problems for England with her throws, although Sarina Wiegman’s side won at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium, Campbell’s touchline delivery lead to a brief panic in England’s penalty area.

ITV, who were streaming the game, measured the throw in at an impressive 38 metres.

Pundit Karen Carney said: “I don’t think I’ve seen anything like it from Megan Campbell.

“It’s unbelievable and it caused problems.

“It put England on the back foot, it caused Hannah Hampton to come out and make decisions and put her under pressure.”

Fans on social media drew strong comparisons between Campbell and Rory Delap, who was famous for his throw ins.

One fan on X commented “’Rory Delass’, ‘Megan Delap’ and ‘the female Rory Delap”

Speaking in 2017, when Campbell was a player at Manchester City, she told the club’s social media: “Fortunately, my arms are quite hyper-mobile and can go further back than the average person.

“I think gradually, that was the realisation this was longer than a normal person’s throw-in and as I’ve grown up, they’ve just got longer.”
