Lancashire Thunder captain Ellie Threlkeld feels there’s no ceiling for how far the women’s game can grow.

Speaking to Merseysportlive ahead of the new season, Threlkeld spoke on the growth of the women’s sport over the past few years.

She said: “The growth of the game has been huge over the past few years, along with the growth of women’s sport in general.

“More often we find that women’s football, has a bit of a knock on affect for our sport as well in attracting new audiences which is brilliant.

“I think the way the game can go, there is no real ceiling for that and that is really exciting and great for us as players to be a part of.”

Threlkeld spoke on how the Hundred has been a “vehicle” which has moved the women’s game forward.

“The Hundred has obviously been a massive vehicle in moving the game forward as well which has been amazing.

“So yeah, I don’t know where it is going to be honest, but it is really exciting to be a part of and great that we are at the forefront.”

Lancashire Lightning captain Keaton Jennings echoed Threlkeld sentiments, believing with time and opportunity the game will continue to grow.

Jennings said: “I think it has been brilliant, they will continue to grow in the next few years.

“You can’t be what you cannot see and you need to make sure you are given those opportunities.”

Jennings also went onto explain how both cohorts could learn from each other and how cohesion will aid both squads.

“It is about the girls tapping into the lads’ knowledge, and visa-versa.

“The skillset is different, but we can always share things. But it is important that we are cohesive.”
