The closely fought 1-1 draw at Prenton Park saw Tranmere score a late penalty to rescue a point in their battle to avoid relegation in the EFL League Two.

A goal by Danillo Orsi put the away side ahead in the 32nd minute after a costly mistake by the Tranmere keeper, Luke McGee.

Super-sub Luke Norris came on in the 62nd minute to replace Jake Garrett.

Norris scored in the 79th minute after the referee awarded a penalty when Orsi took down Norris in the box.

The Rovers had numerous opportunities in the first half to get on the score sheet but lacked finishing power.

There was a big chance from Omari Patrick in the 22nd minute as he curled the ball just wide of the right post.

In the 69th minute Sol Solomon narrowly missed the ball as he slid in front of the goal.

The away side searched for a late winner with Patrick putting the ball over the bar in the 87th minute.

Connor Jennings narrowly missed the ball in an attempt to secure all three points.

In the 35th minute Declan Drysdale was forced out with a hamstring injury.

The draw means that Tranmere sit in 22nd, just two points from the relegation zone.

The Rovers have only scored five but conceded 17 goals in their last eight matches.

Tranmere manager Nigel Adkins said: “We created chances, unfortunately the score line is the score line, it’s another point on the board.

“All in all there was some good performances and entertaining afternoon’s football.”

Tranmere’s next match is away to Notts County on Saturday 22nd February.
