Brian Sorensen will be hoping his Everton side can get back on track against Leicester City this Sunday after suffering four back-to-back league and cup defeats.

Despite their impressive first day display against rivals Liverpool, the women from Goodison fell to their third straight WSL defeat last time out with a 1-0 loss away to Brighton.

They will kick off at 11.55am at the King Power Stadium against a Leicester side which also has just one win in four games, coincidentally against Liverpool too.

Injury updates

However, the Blues already face injury troubles early in the season with Sorensen confirming on Everton Women’s official X account that at least five players will miss out.

He said: “We will put out a good team against Leicester but some of those missing are key figures that would normally start. We have to manage that, but we still have a good squad available.”

Forward Kelly Gago remains out the squad with concussion, while centre back Rion Ishikawa and goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan have knee injuries. Emily Ramsey will most likely remain between the posts for her third start in a row.

Sorensen has recalled youngster Issy Hobson from her loan spell at Women’s Super League 2 club Nottingham Forest. The 17-year-old is hoped to bring defensive cover to a weakened side. Sorensen feels that his side is in a better position with the youngster at his disposal as he stated:

He said: “I spoke to her and she was happy to be back. She enjoyed being at Forest but she’s an Evertonian and a Blue. It’s a big jump for a young player to jump into a team in the best league in the world, but I know 100% defensively I can rely on her.”

The Blues will hope to solidify their backline in order to achieve their first clean sheet. And hopefully their second victory in the 2025/26 season.

Previous meetings

Back in February, Everton came out on top with a 4-1 win but the spoils have been shared in recent years with Everton winning five of their last 10 meetings, Leicester four with one draw.

Leicester seem to be a side struggling for goals with just two netted strikes across their first four games but they face a team who are leaking goals at the minute after conceding eight in the past four games.
