David McNamara talking about his experience at the European Pool Championships and what the future holds for him.

Liverpool-born pool star David McNamara said that captaining England Men’s A team to victory at the 2025 European Blackball Championships in Ireland was one of the greatest moments of his career.

The 2017 World Champion led his country to become the best side on the continent for a second successive time.

He said: “Well it was probably the best pool moment I have ever had to be honest.

“I have won a lot of singles events over the years but it is different when it comes to a team, especially when it is so tough to get into the England set up.”

England defeated tournament favourites Malta 13-8 in last week’s final, despite leading 9-1 after 10 frames.

McNamara’s teammate Kyle Cope, who sadly lost his father earlier this year, potted the winning black to cue the celebrations.

The English skipper is set to open his own pool and darts academy next year, located in his hometown Runcorn. To help develop the next generation of European Champions.

Giving advice to aspiring players, he said: “Keep a clean mind and just work hard, practice as much as you can, play with better players and get stuck in.”
