Since its establishment in 2017, HYROX has risen to the very top of the competitive fitness industry.
Fitness Fanatics from across the world compete against each other, testing their strength, durability and mental toughness in a standardised fitness race, with over 650,000 competitors.
In its nine years of life, HYROX has created a sense of brand exclusivity, with most events nowadays being oversubscribed, with most slots being allocated to repeat competitors.
Participants pay a premium fee to enter the event, but also the unique atmosphere and the sense of community that comes along with it- offering athletes a chance to grow their individual brand in the hopes of sponsorships through networking with other elite athletes.
Jess Durr is a hybrid athlete from the Wirral who has been competing internationally over the past two years.
Since her first competition in 2023, Jess has competed in six events across Europe, even finishing first out of all competing women in HYROX Riga.

She said: “I have a marketing membership with TotalFitness, who provide me with a free membership to train, I am also a part of the Nike HYROX women’s team, who pay for some events but mostly provide me with free training equipment which is a massive help.”
Formally, Jess was a semi-professional footballer, at Tranmere Rovers. However, she chose to make the switch to hybrid training, after parting ways with football in 2023.
In the same year, Jess played college ‘soccer’ in America for D’Youville University Saints.
She said: “Football was my first love, I started playing when I was six years old, and stayed at Tranmere for just over twelve years, but it felt like right point in my life to make the switch.”
Leading social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok, have been pivotal in HYROX global growth, becoming a key growth engine for expansion.
For example, between 2022 and 2024, HYROX related content interaction grew by 654%.
Jess said: “Social media has been great for HYROX, athletes sharing their training, and nutrition tips which helps newer hybrid athletes like me to build on my own game.”
By the end of next year, HYROX wishes to hit the one million competitor mark, scaling the competition into a live broadcast event.
With partnerships with sporting giants such as Puma, prize money is also set to be majorly increased and the potential introduction of a professional card system to distinguish top-tier athletes.
