The Sandgrounders have boosted their frontline with the loan signing of Chris Sze for a month from Wigan Athletic.
The 21-year-old developed his craft at Wigan where he spent his early years before making his senior debut in 2021 whilst also enjoying his time in development leagues.
The move comes after Crewe Alexandra recalled in-form striker Adrien Thibaut, who scored four goals in 11 appearances for Southport.
After finishing as the top goal scorer for both the U18s and U23s in the 2021/22 campaign, Sze received recognition for his outstanding performances by being named the Michael Millett Academy Player of the Year recipient at the end-of-season awards.

Sze said: “I think it will be good for me to get consistent games in men’s football, I’ve watched a few of the games for myself and I really like what I see.”
He will be joining a side in form after Southport enjoyed an unbeaten November, rising five places from rock bottom of the National League North to 19th, winning four and drawing three games.
Sze said: “I’m attack minded, I want goals. I’d say I’m decent at finishing but that’s for the fans to decide.”
Southport face a tricky trip down to face Telford at The SEAH Stadium tomorrow.
Port’s league position is relatively false as despite being two points above the drop they are third in the ‘form’ table over the last five games, picking up more points than the league leaders AFC Fylde.
Telford themselves are on a good run unbeaten in four, including progression to the third round of the FA Trophy.
The SEAH Stadium has proven to be a difficult place for visiting teams as Telford has lost only three out of ten games, picking up 17 points in the process.
With the two sides sat just three points and two places apart in the table, the home side will be hoping to keep the Merseyside club at arm’s length in what will prove to be an exciting clash in Shropshire.
