Liverpool and Everton are set to lose key players over the festive period and into the new year during the African Cup of Nations, which begins on Sunday 21 December.  

After a turbulent week within the Liverpool dressing room, Mohamed Salah will set off for AFCON on Sunday, hoping to lead Egypt to a record-extending eighth title.  

Meanwhile, the Toffees will be without Senegalese duo, Iliman Ndiaye and Idrissa Gana Gueye.  

The bi-annual tournament will be held in Morocco and is set to run until Sunday 18 January with 2023 winners Ivory Coast looking to record back-to-back titles
