Ex-Everton ace Tony Grant thinks the Toffees’ squad won’t get them over the line in the long race for Champions League spot, despite their recent form.
The club sit eighth in the Premier League and see themselves only four points away from a spot in the UEFA: Champions League.
They are also only two points away from a spot from a chance of qualifying for the Europa League and Conference League.
The Toffee’s last adventure in any European competition was in the 2017/18 Europa League where they were eliminated in the group stage.
When asked about the possibility of qualifying for Europe, Grant said that Everton needed to take every game one at a time and that anything can happen in football.
He said: “Well, you never know if football. I think I don’t think we’ve got a big squad. I don’t think the squad depth will get us there. I think now we’re enjoying some good football, some good results.”

Grant has experienced famous European nights at Goodison park both as a fan and as a player. He spoke about his favourite memory as part of the Everton faithful.
He said: “What tops it all is being at Goodison Park when Bayern Munich came for the semi-final for the Cup Winners Cup. I mean to sit there and remember all the memories and the atmosphere, it would be impossible, and I never come close to it.”
The 51 year-old played in European competitions for the Merseyside club and even scored in a 3-1 first round victory against KR Reykjavik.
Grant also warned of the potential impact of injuries and how the African Cup of Nations will affect the team.
He said: “The African nations may take a couple of players from us, you know, that could have a negative effect. Everton are really in transition right now. Now the football is much better.”
When asked about if Everton will need to bring in reinforcements for the team, the former Everton star said the club should bring in full backs and further attacking options to strengthen the team.

He said: “I think every club has got positions that they want to improve, you know was as you said, they’re sitting quite tight. So, whoever whoever’s playing in those positions right now are doing a decent job. But you always want to get better.”
