Liverpool boss Arne Slot admits he did not expect their summer squad changes to take as long as they have to work, as the Reds prepare to face Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.
Liverpool overhauled their squad this summer with ten new arrivals and seven first-team players leaving.
Slot said today (December 19th): “We made the changes because we thought we needed to, but we did not expect them to take as long as they did.”
The Reds have recently seen an uptick in form, with three wins in the last five across all competitions, including three clean sheets, and their latest match was a 2-0 home victory over Brighton.
Slot did raise concerns about the number of chances conceded against Brighton, conceding more in that game than in the previous four.
However, they also created more chances.
Liverpool could move back into the top four following a victory on Saturday.
Curtis Jones received praise for his recent performances.
Slot said: “This is the first time he has had very good performances three games in a row. This is the base for where we expect him to go.”
Dominik Szoboszlai is in contention for the game despite picking up an injury against Brighton.
Joe Gomez will not be in the squad following his injury.
The Reds will be without Mohamed Salah, who has met up with Egypt for the African Cup of Nations.
