Luke Littler continues to have an impact on darts in the region as his second consecutive PDC World Darts Championship victory shows.

The Warrington-born player’s meteoric rise over the last three years has seen huge growth of the game in the North West according to one shop owner.

St Helens Darts Shop founder Karl Holden said Littler, who played in the town’s academy, is the catalyst in the growth of the sport in the area.

Littler has been a long-standing friend of St Helens Darts Shop, and  Holden was even a mentor of The Nuke as a child.

Alongside Littler, other famous Darts stars like Michael Smith, Stephen Bunting and Dave Chisnall are well-acquainted with the shop.

The sports’ popularity has increased in St Helens so much that the shop had to relocate to a bigger venue in February, creating a temple for Darts where players can come and try out gear on various dart boards set up across the shop.

Mersey Sport Live reporter Jacob Howson caught up with Holden.
