Cheshire-born Mia Brookes heads to the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milano-Cortina with her eyes set on the snowboarding gold medal with her biggest run yet.

Team GB’s biggest hope for a first snowboarding gold competes this Sunday at her first-ever Winter Olympics.

Brookes, from Sandbach, claimed gold at the prestigious X Games in Aspen earlier this year and aims to replicate it at the Olympic Games.

She previously made history in 2023 as she won slopestyle gold in Georgia to become the nation’s first-ever world champion in the event.

The snowboarding sensation also triumphed in Big Air World Cup events, making her a double-threat at the Olympic Games.

Now the 19-year-old hopes to clinch a first-ever gold medal for Team GB in the snowboarding event.

Only Jenny Jones and Billy Morgan have scored an Olympic medal for Team GB in snowboarding, both winning bronze in slopestyle and big air, respectively.

Brookes hopes to make a big impression on the judges with “the heaviest run” she can do.

Brookes told TNT Sports: “I want to do front 10 [frontside 1080], back 12 [backside double cork 1260], cab 14 [caballerial 1440].”

Furthermore, in her Team GB profile interview, she said: “The goal would be to get gold there [Milano Cortina].

“I’m working every day towards the Olympic dream.”
