Wirral cricketer Chris Edwards played a key role as the England mixed disability cricket team beat India 4-1 in their first ever overseas series.

Edwards, from Wallasey, was diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder as a child and is the captain for the England and Wales learning disability team, and now a part of the mixed disability team.

The England men’s mixed disability team was formed in 2025 by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).

It combines players from the physical disability, learning disability and deaf teams.

Edwards made an impact in the historic victory, taking five wickets whilst playing in every game of the historic series.

Mixed disability captain Callum Flynn said the players were “over the moon” to come out as 4-1 winners in their first overseas series.

Speaking to the ECB, he added: “I’m so proud of the lads.

“Everyone has given everything, in tough conditions, against a tough opponent, and that’s what representing your country is all about.

“No England Disability team has come to India and won before and that means a lot.

“Hopefully this is the first England Men’s Mixed Disability away win of many.”
