I Am Maximus tops the weights at 11st 12lb for the second year running in the 2026 Randox Grand National.

The 10-year old finished second in 2024 carrying top weight.

No horse carrying top weight has won the prestigious steeplechase since Red Rum in 1977.

Last years winner Nick Rockett comes in at 1lb lower, as 3lbs is added by the handicapper.

He has not run since winning last year, when giving amateur rider Patrick a first victory in the race.

He will not be eligible to run in the National unless he enters a race before March 23.

His Trainer Willie Mullins has ten runners guaranteed a place in a field of 34.

The JP McManus owned Iroko who finished 4th last year, seems backed to run well again.

He will carry 11st 1lb for the national, a weight some would consider ideal.

He would be only the second 7-year old since Noble Yeats in 2022 to win the National since Bogskar in 1940.

Trainer Gordon Elliott has a high-class stayer in 8 year-old FireFox, who will be running in the Gold Cup in March.

He carries 11st 4lb, and would be an ideal winner based off the back of previous winners.

In D’or carries the lowest weight at 9st 7lb, but it remains to be seen whether he will make the final field of 34.

Speaking to the BBC, British Horseracing Authority handicapper, Martin Greenwood said: ”Last year, the first three horses home were all rated 160-plus.”

The Timeform’s Weight-adjusted ratings for the 2026 National indicate which horses are the ones to watch.

Panic Attack is currently the highest rated, but would require 10 runners to withdraw from the entries to get a run.

Stablemates Iroko and Jagwar are the highest rated horses currently entered in the national at 181 and 180 respectively.

The official weights were revealed at St George’s Hall on Tuesday, where 2012 winner Neptune Collonges was paraded.
