Liverpool Feds players Faye Coulthard and Emma Johnson hope to inspire future female footballers in Merseyside as the growth of the women’s game continues to rise.

Feds beat Everton u21s 3-1 at Walton Hall Park on Sunday, to reach the final of the Liverpool Senior Women’s county cup.

After the game, Coulthard said: “Women’s football everywhere is getting bigger which is great to see.

“It’s nice to see more women’s teams instead of us playing with the lads. It’s nice that they (younger girls) get to play with girls themselves now.

“Hopefully we are inspiring the little mascots that came today.”

Johnson added: “You walk past the astro pitches now and they are full of girls, which was never the case when we were younger, so it’s really good to see.”

It was Everton who went ahead in the 16th minute through Amy Pracy, before Emily Cole levelled for feds.

Feds then took control in the second half, and a goal from Katie Anderson alongside a late Chloe Fisher strike were enough to book a place in the final versus Liverpool u21s.

Coulthard admitted that it was “a bit nervy” at 2-1 but felt that the third goal really settled the team.

Ahead of the final against Liverpool u21s, Johnson believes Feds will have to use their seniority to their advantage.

She said: “I think it’ll be a tough game. We can’t under-estimate them. But we will really have to play into our experience.”

Should feds win the cup, Johnson would reflect on the season as a good one.

She said: “We’ve had a strong season, we’ve had some really strong performances and some we can be proud of.”

Feds will face Liverpool u21s in the County cup final at Walton Hall Park, date TBC.
