Merseyside golf star Tommy Fleetwood has won the 2026 TGL title with Los Angeles Golf Club.

The team lifted the SoFi Cup after defeating Jupiter Links Golf Club 9-2.

It saw them win the best-of-three match final 2-0 at Florida’s SoFi Centre.

The final match also saw the long-awaited return of Tiger Woods to the Jupiter Links team.

He returned after holding a non-playing role throughout the 2026 season while recovering from injury.

Justin Rose, Sahith Theegala and Southport’s Fleetwood needed just ten holes of the 15-hole contest to see out a dominant victory.

Speaking to TGL during the trophy ceremony, Fleetwood praised his teammates.

He said: “We’ve prepared so well, we’ve supported each other so well and we’ve done the right things out there, so it’s been a joy.”

Los Angeles rallied back from 2-0 down on the night. They won five consecutive holes, starting on the sixth green.

Fleetwood was instrumental in his team’s journey to victory.

His crucial right to left putt from 10 feet helped to secure the points on the 8th hole for Los Angeles.

Fleetwood’s influence back at home

Fleetwood’s success, in a very new team format of golf, has been well received back at his home golf club, Formby Hall.

Norman Marshall, of the Tommy Fleetwood Academy, coached him when the Southport hotshot was just six years old. He has praised Fleetwood’s success.

He said: “We are very proud of him, we have setup his academy at Formby Hall and he is a great example and role model for the kids.”

Marshall is also optimistic for how TGL could inspire junior players to get into team golf.

“It is an aspect of golf which is great for kids [team golf].

“It takes the pressure off the individual, so I think it is a really healthy way for people to be introduced to golf and to play it in the early stages.

“When people first begin to compete, which is happening earlier and earlier for young people, team golf is a great idea.”

Marshall believes Fleetwood’s continuing success will provide young players in the North West of England with the belief that they can make many accomplishments.

“If you believe in yourself and you are prepared to put the hard work in, anything is possible.”

This win for Los Angeles Golf Club sees them take the TGL crown from Atlanta Drive Golf Club.

Atlanta won the inaugural season of this tournament in 2025.
