Former Liverpool FC Under 18s captain Liam Coyle has made his professional debut for Accrington Stanley.
Coyle played as the East Lancashire outfit were defeated by top of the table, Plymouth Argyle.
In 2017, Coyle was the captain for the young reds under club legend and now Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard.
But in the next season, a continuous back injury reduced his playing time to almost nil.
The 21-year-old was released from his boyhood club after 12 seasons but signed for The ‘Owd Reds this summer.
In an exclusive interview with Merseysportlive, Coyle expressed how he was ‘buzzing’ when he was told by manager John Coleman he would start.
He added: “I found out the day before, in training that I was going to be starting.
“I couldn’t wait to play and make my league one debut.
“I was nervous but excited, as I normally am (before the game) but as the game started, I really got into it.”
His side were beaten 4-1 but Coyle wants to do his best to help the team move up the table.
“The result didn’t go our way but hopefully we can iron things out as a team, and I can put in some good performances,” he added.
He also started in Saturday’s 3-2 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday.
