Liverpool Collegiate will aim to put their season on track when they host Bolton in a Counties Two ADM Lancashire and Cheshire match tomorrow.
The Aigburth-based side will be underdogs with Bolton winning all three of their opening games.
Collegiate have endured a turbulent start to the season. A 24-19 home win over Garstang was followed by a 33-33 draw against Glossop and a difficult 95-29 defeat against Heaton Moor last weekend.
Liverpool have shown they are capable of scoring points but defensive issues have cost them valuable points and they sit seventh in the league with nine points.
The clash promises a contrast of playing styles. Bolton’s physically-structured game will be interesting to watch against Colligate’s fast attacking style.
Bolton head into the game with solid league form with three wins, albeit by close scores.
They beat Tyldesley and Southport, both 27-25, showing their ability to come out on top in close games. Their last outing was also close, a 27-26 win over Sefton.
These results place them as one of the early pace setters in the division, despite having two heavy loses in pre-season against Bury and Bedford Salem. They have regrouped well and are now placed third in the league table with 13 points.
Head to head
Recent history between the sides heavily favours Bolton.
In their last two meetings Bolton have come out on top each time, 41-31 in February 2025 and 34-17 in October 2024.
On paper Bolton start as the clear favourites given their current position in the league and recent dominance in their fixtures.
But Liverpool have shown they can score freely and if their difference can turn up this Saturday an upset is possible.
