Omari Patrick has called for more consistency ahead of Tranmere’s game against Chesterfield on Saturday.
Following a crucial 4-1 victory away at Bristol Rovers last time out, Tranmere have the chance to make it back-to-back wins for the first time this season with play-off hunting Chesterfield coming to Prenton Park.
With Rovers sat 18th in the table, turning around the home form will be pivotal to their success with just one win at Prenton Park in League Two so far this season.
Patrick told Mersey Sport Live: “Yeah, of course, we want to be good at home. It’s our home, so this is where the fans want us to be good. I think we just need to focus game to game, whether you’re home or away, there needs to be consistency in our performances.
“I think that’s the most frustrating thing, there is no consistency in our performances, and then the fans are right to be frustrated about that. But of course, especially when we play at home, we want to give the fans what they want to see.”
Patrick has led the way for Tranmere this season, managing six goals and four assists so far. Despite registering the third most goals and second most assists in the division, the 29-year-old wants more from himself and the team.
He said: “I think we all need to do better. I mean, I’ve found quite a lot of moments in games to give us something, but overall, my performance hasn’t been as good as I’d like them to be.
“I do think it has taken us quite some time to get rhythm, get to know each other a little bit more but I think we are getting there 100% and we’re confident we can turn it around.”
Tranmere have suffered from a number of injuries this season, and Patrick has been utilised in multiple roles by manager Andy Crosby, including wing-back, something the attacker wasn’t used to before arriving on Merseyside.
He said: “It’s not a natural position for me. Some games are better than others, depending on who you play, how the game goes. League Two is not very consistent on how games play out, every game is different. So some games are tougher for me than others, but I work on it in training, the gaffer trusts me, my teammates trust me.”
Last time Tranmere faced Chesterfield, Patrick was part of the side that ran out four-nil victors at Prenton Park, despite the visitors finishing 13 places higher last season.
Even with Chesterfield in sixth place ahead of Saturday’s meeting, Patrick believes Rovers can repeat the trick.
He said: “It gives us confidence that we can (beat them). We know we’ve done it before and we could do it again, but we also understand that Chesterfield are a very strong team and you have to show up on the day. So as long as we show up on that day, it should be a good game and we should be okay.”
