More than 23,000 people attended Anfield for a derby match between Liverpool and Everton women.

The Blues ran out 1-0 winners in the Super League fixture, but the event was significant in the fact it was the first time a women’s game has been played at the stadium.

Lucy Graham’s long range strike just before half time was enough to see the visitors earn all three points.

The average attendance for Liverpool women’s games last year was 536 at Tranmere’s Prenton Park so having thousands more attend the fixture can be seen as a big step for the women’s game.

With Liverpool and Everton both in the Super League, we spoke to the people of Liverpool to see what they thought about the yesterday’s game and women’s football in general.
