Tommy Fleetwood failed to make the cut at this weekend’s Player’s Championship with Justin Thomas the eventual winner.

Fleetwood went into the tournament having finished T10 shooting -3 par at the Arnold Palmer Invitational just last week.

The Southport born golfer finished two over par and was accompanied by a host of big names to miss out.

The 2019 Player’s Championship winner Rory Mcilroy, Rickie Fowler and Tony Finau were amongst those not to make the cut.

The world number 22 started the weekend alongside James Hahn and Harold Varner II.  A round one of 75 consisted of a triple bogey on hole 17 which was followed by a double bogey on hole the 18th.

The 30-year-old’s second round of 71 showed glimpses of improvement with a birdie on both the second and fifth. However, ultimately the 17th caused him trouble for a second day in a row as he once again got a triple bogey.

The tournament was rounded off on Sunday night with Justin Thomas recording a final round of 68. Finishing the championship on 14 under par was enough to give him a one shot victory over Lee Westwood who finished on -13.

Having come into the tournament in good form, Fleetwood will be hoping to bounce back quickly.

Fleetwood will miss next weekend’s Honda Classic. However, he will be looking to put in a strong performance at the Masters next month.
