Liverpool have beaten Man City 3-2 in a Wembley thriller to reach the FA Cup final.

A Sadio Mane brace and Konate header in the first half was ultimately enough to put the Reds out of reach of the rallying City.

Centre-back Konate capitalised on Robertson’s corner to put Liverpool ahead after nine minutes – the first real chance of the game.

City, who were without stars Kevin de Bruyne and Kyle Walker, chose to field second-string keeper Steffen ahead of Ederson – a regrettable decision.

In the 16th minute, Steffen’s lack of awareness would allow Mane to steal the ball just outside the six-yard box to double the lead.

A well-worked team goal moments before halftime put the final nail in the coffin for City.

Man of the match Mane drilled home his second from just inside the box after a beautifully chipped pass from Thiago.

City failed to pose any real threat to Liverpool’s high backline throughout the first 45 minutes.

They would snatch a consolation goal after a quick start to the second half, though.

Jack Grealish fired home within one minute of the restart.

Despite this contribution, Grealish looked lost throughout.

Liverpool predominantly controlled the flow of the game, Thiago a maestro in possession.

Like Mane, Diaz proved to be a bright spark throughout.

Both consistently pressed the City backline and looked to get in behind, while star man Salah looked flat at times.

In a late scare for Liverpool, Silva pulled another back in the 90th minute, creating tension at stoppage time.

Nonetheless, Klopp’s team recomposed to see out the victory.

The win sees Liverpool outdo their recent efforts against City. The teams drew 2-2 at the Ethiad last week, keeping the Premier League title race within a point of either team.

After winning this season’s Carabao Cup and qualifying for the Champions League semis, the quadruple still remains possible for Liverpool.

Chelsea play Crystal Palace tomorrow (17th April) in the second of the semi-finals.

The winner will play Liverpool back at Wembley on Saturday, May 14th.
