Southport golfer Tommy Fleetwood struggled to make an impression at the Phoenix Open after finishing one over par for his two rounds at TPC Scottsdale.

Fleetwood came 66th and missed the cut with only the top 65 players in the PGA Tour event qualifying for the final two rounds.

He started the tournament posting a one-over round 72 and improved in his second round with an even par 71.

But it was not enough for Fleetwood to see him compete further into the tournament.

There were some highlights from Fleetwood.

The famous par three 16th saw him come only a few yards away from a hole-in-one.

A moment the Phoenix crowd certainly enjoyed considering they are renowned for booing shots that do not make the green.

Scottie Scheffler regained his title finishing 19 under par for the tournament.

Scheffler is only the seventh player to successfully defend the WM Phoenix Open and move to world number one.

Fleetwood’s next tournament is The Genesis Invitational at the Riviera Country Club, California.

The tournament will see a returning Tiger Woods, his first start since The Open in 2022.
