Tranmere Rovers continue to look over their shoulder as they twice came from behind to draw 2-2 with relegation rivals Morecombe, writes James White at Prenton Park.
The result leaves Rovers in a precarious position, sitting only four points above the drop zone.
Without a win since early November, fans earmarked this as an opportunity to get some confidence in the side as the visitors sat at the foot of the table prior to kick off.
However it was former Rover’s winger, Ben Tollitt who opened the scoring in the 12th minute after a calamitous error at the back from defender Declan Drysdale on his first start of the season.
Tranmere had little to boast about in the first period bar a deflected effort from striker Kristian Dennis that called for a good save from Morecombe goalkeeper, Harry Burgoyne.
A series of unforced errors led to frustration from the home support and they made their feelings known as the away side went in ahead at the break.

Morecombe had come off the back of two straight wins and it was looking like a long night for the home side. However Rovers made a perfect start to the second half as defender Jordan Turnbull headed home Sam Finley’s corner to level the tie in the 48th minute.
However, the Shrimps responded immediately as Adam Lewis’s cross from the right-hand side went all the way in, past an on looking Luke McGee in the Tranmere goal.
As frustration built among the home crowd, Adkins rang the changes, bringing on top goal scorer Omari Patrick who added energy to the play. And it wasn’t long before the tie was all square again. A ball over the top found captain Connor Jennings who brought the it down and slotted past Burgoyne.
Like much of the second half, the final exchanges belonged to the home side who pushed for a winner. However, Drysdale was unable to make up for his earlier mistake and the defender headed wide in the 90th minute.
