Tranmere Rovers midfielder Nohan Kenneh is looking forward to making his 100th senior appearance this Saturday at home to Barnet, if selected.

Leeds United academy graduate Kenneh, who joined Rovers from Shrewsbury Town in the summer, said:

“It’s a massive milestone, after all the sacrifices my family went through, and from the coaches at youth level and to this day.

“If I do get the chance to make that milestone it will be amazing, it will be an honour and I’m grateful.”

The Liberian earned the majority of his professional caps on loan, with two stints at Ross County and a season at Shrewsbury, but he has expressed his happiness at his new home at the Wirral club.

“I feel like the boys have treated me really well, the staff and everyone really. It’s a really humble group and so far, so good.”

Rovers boss Andy Crosby was complimentary of Saturday’s opponents Barnet and praised their ability to “use the momentum” gained from their promotion to League Two last season.

Rovers’ number 42 preferred to focus on their own performance in order to pick up their first league win since August.

Said Kenneh: “We’ve got to focus on ourselves, we’ve analysed their game plan and strengths and weaknesses, but it’s about us.

“We’ve got a really good game plan, the main purpose is to focus on ourselves and exploit their strengths and weaknesses as much as possible in the game.”

Crosby’s men won their first game in seven on Tuesday in the EFL Trophy, where Kenneh was an unused substitute.

Naturally, the defensive-midfielder wants to play every minute of every game, but appreciates the competitive situation he finds himself in within the squad.

He said: “I’m never glad to get rest, obviously I want to play every game, but you have to respect the manager’s decision every time.

“Everybody is fighting for their spot and there’s no guarantee for places and that’s what we need as a club, competition for places.”

Kenneh highlighted his teammates’ resilience in their last league match, after coming back from 3-1 down to secure a draw away to Bromley.

He said: “Obviously we’d like the three points, but in the circumstances of the game, we were losing 3-1 so I feel we came back pretty well.

“It shows we are a strong group, other things went against us in that game but we stuck together and managed to get a vital draw.”
