Tranmere Rovers Manager Andy Crosby is looking ‘to take a step in the right direction’ tomorrow at Bristol Rovers.
Tranmere sit 19th in League Two after a run without a win in the league since August.
The Tranmere boss feels they owe fans a better showing than the 2-0 defeat to Barnet last time out.
Crosby said: “We owe our supporters a performance, we owe ourselves a performance, we owe each other and performance because last week was far from good enough.
“We now go to Bristol Rovers on Saturday and it’s our first chance to take a step in the right direction and do everything which represents our football club.”
Tranmere are coming off a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Barnet.
Crosby defended his players and outlined his own responsibilities.
He said: “It always comes back to me, I’ve picked the team to go into competition with Barnet, and we came down on the wrong side of that, and deservedly so, we didn’t deserve anything out of the game at all.”
The former centre back has been encouraged by his side’s response during the week, but understands talk isn’t the same as a professional game.
He said: “We came in on Sunday morning for a discussion about some of the things which I require, which I demand of them as players, and as I’m saying about that accountability, that responsibility to do your role.
“What do they need from each other? What is the basis of a really good football team, both on and off the pitch? It’s all right talking about it, but it’s now about going into practice and doing it.”

Desperate for a win to prise a gap between themselves and the relegation places, Crosby insists his side are well-prepared.
He said: “The lucky thing for us there’s always another challenge, always another game and it’s our next opponent at Bristol Rovers and a game we are more than ready for.
“I wish it would have been a lot sooner than it has been, but we’re ready. But saying we’re ready and using words, it’s about what happens when the whistle blows on Saturday afternoon at three o’clock and then we’ll see.”
