Kristian Dennis said that the team is “full of confidence” heading into their game against Barrow on Tuesday night.

The trip north follows a three-game unbeaten streak in the league for Tranmere, which has seen them pick up seven points.

Dennis scored an injury time winner in a 2-1 win at Grimsby last time out in League Two, a result that has given Rovers renewed belief.

He said: “We’re the top scorers away from home in the division, so we’ll be full of confidence. The Grimsby game has given us a new lease of life, pushed us up the table. We will go there, try and get the win.

On his 96th minute goal at Grimsby, he added: “To fall to me, in that moment, I can’t ask for much more. We’ve been on the wrong end of a few late goals this season. It’s good to be on the other end of it.”

The veteran goalscorer has been recovering from a three-month absence, which he described as “the longest injury of [his] career”.

Dennis has been gaining fitness, and last week – in Tranmere’s 3-0 EFL Trophy loss to Fleetwood Town – he played his first full match of the season.

The number nine said: “Considering I hadn’t done much for three months, I felt absolutely fine. So hopefully I can just recover well and aim for the next game.”

The recent run of form, as well as some key players returning to full fitness, now has Tranmere looking up the table after an indifferent start to the season.

Said Dennis: “Hopefully we can put a few wins together over Christmas, games are coming thick and fast. If we do win those games, we push up the table, and we’ll hopefully be looking down on teams, not looking up.”

Barrow sit 18th in League Two, having not picked up a win in five games. However, The Bluebirds would have taken confidence from a narrow FA Cup defeat on penalties to League One side Wigan Athletic.

Dennis said: “It’ll be a tough game Tuesday night. Barrow ran Wigan close the other night, and they’re in the league above.”

With his late goal against Grimsby and manager Andy Crosby labelling him “ready to start”, Dennis will be aiming to be the difference once again against Barrow.
