Northern Indoor Championships has provided Merseyside athletes a clear indication ahead of their current fitness following the first major indoor competition of the season.
Held at the Sheffield Institution of Sport, the competition brought together athletes from the Merseyside region.
Liverpool Harriers athlete Ruachkuoth Ter began his championship campaign with a time of 21.84 seconds in the 200m, narrowly missing out on qualification to the final by one hundredth of a second.
The sprinter reinforced his desire to fix his block start, believing the adjustment would help to create a successful season on the track.
Sefton Harriers Athlete and training partner Ryan Mostyn, who has also trained with Ter, took another step in his road to full fitness.
Mostyn, from Kirkby recorded a 6.90 time in the 60m and won his heat in the 200m, although he was left disappointed with his performances.
With British Championships a month away, Merseyside athletes will use the lessons learned to fine-tune their preparation in what could be a successful season for Merseyside athletics.
