Bobby Grant said his players “have to take a look at themselves” after Marine lost 4-1 away to Curzon Ashton at Tameside Stadium.
The result is Marine’s third away National League North defeat in a row.
Charlie Weston scored a hattrick for Curzon Ashton, with Alex Curran also on the scoresheet.
Offrande Zanzala scored Marine’s goal, and Marine boss Grant described the game as “unbelievably frustrating.”
Grant told the club’s YouTube channel: “My players get loads of praise… But I can’t praise when you’re missing them type of chances.
“They have to take a look at themselves in terms of are they doing enough.
“I can say the lads have had an off night tonight. They haven’t. The reality was we weren’t good enough.”
Grant said that his players have been “outstanding” all season but weren’t good enough against Curzon Ashton.
“I said it on Saturday. You can’t create that many chances if you’re pushing for what we’re pushing for.
“The chances we’re missing have to hit the net, especially with the quality we’ve got.”
The result leaves Marine in 11th and five points off the play-off positions after suffering their first defeat in four league games.
