The Super League opener between Warrington Wolves and St Helens is set to be the biggest home opener since 2004.

Warrington Wolves and St Helens will kick off their season with a rivalry clash at the Halliwell Jones Stadium on Friday, 13 February.

The Wire vs Saints rivalry remains one of rugby league’s fiercest, steeped in history and drama.

Both sides will be desperate to make a statement after a disappointing Super League last season, which saw Saints finish 5th and The Wire 8th.

Warrington Wolves are seeking “absolute improvement” in their 2025 season, head coach Sam Burgess says.

In a post-season interview with the Wolves, Burgess said: “I’ve always liked to coach a team that the fans can be proud of. Dare I say some weeks they weren’t [in 2025].”

13,200 tickets have already sold, and Warrington Wolves report they are rapidly heading toward a sell-out.

Ticket sales have surpassed 2014’s round-one crowd of 13,157 against the Saints.

This could be the biggest game at the Halliwell Jones since 14,206 packed in to see Warrington beat Wakefield 34-20 in 2004.

The away terrace has also sold out, with Saints fans well represented.
